Social media marketing training courses

Every social media marketing training course we run, delivered privately to your team

Every course here is delivered privately to one organisation. No public cohorts, no stock deck. We use your channels, your analytics and your buyer, and your team leaves with work already done rather than notes.

At your offices anywhere in the UK, at our Leeds studio, or live online. Half day £1,200, full day £1,800, up to six people, excluding VAT.

How our training works

A scoping call first

Half an hour on the phone. We ask what your channels do now, who is in the room, and what has to be true afterwards for the day to have been worth it.

An agenda written for you

You get a written agenda and a fixed price before you commit. If the shape is wrong we change it. Nobody is sold a course off a shelf.

Work finished in the room

Rewritten profiles, drafted content, a plan with named owners and dates. Homework does not happen, so we stopped setting it.

If your team cannot use the output on the Monday morning after, the day has not worked.

Courses by platform

  • LinkedIn training for sales teams. Prospecting, profiles as a sales asset, outreach that gets replies and Sales Navigator. For sales teams who need pipeline.
  • LinkedIn marketing training. Company page reach, content, employee advocacy, executive thought leadership and board reporting. For marketing and comms teams.
  • LinkedIn ads training. Campaign Manager, targeting, ad formats, the Insight Tag and cost per lead. Run on your own live account.
  • Instagram training. Reels, Stories, direct messages, Instagram search and creator collaborations, on your own account.
  • TikTok training. Making things that actually get watched, and an honest view on whether TikTok suits your organisation.
  • Facebook training. Pages, groups and community, for organisations where Facebook is still where the audience is.
  • X and Twitter training. Real time communications, newsjacking and reputation risk on the fastest and most exposed platform.
  • YouTube training. Search, structure and retention on the platform most teams treat as a video dumping ground.
  • Pinterest training. A search engine as much as a social network, and badly underused by UK retail and food brands.

Courses by subject

Courses by level and audience

Courses by sector

The structure holds, the examples and the constraints change. Sector sessions use comparable organisations rather than technology brands, and cover the regulatory ground that applies to you.

  • Higher education. Recruitment, research and alumni audiences, which are usually three strategies sharing one account.
  • Healthcare. Regulated communication, patient confidentiality and public trust.
  • Local government. Public accountability, consultation and handling criticism in the open.
  • Food and drink. Product led content, seasonality and creator work.
  • Retail. Commercial content, promotions and customer service at volume.
  • Leisure. Destination and experience marketing, and user generated content.
  • Luxury brands. Tone, restraint and protecting a premium position on platforms built for volume.
  • Property and real estate. Local visibility, listings and long consideration cycles.

Training in Leeds, Manchester, London and across the UK

We are based in Leeds, and a good share of the work is delivered across Yorkshire at client offices in Leeds, Sheffield, York, Bradford, Harrogate and Hull. We travel nationwide, and we run live online sessions for teams spread across sites.

What our training costs

Private team prices, not per person prices, excluding VAT. The same rates apply to every course on this page.

Format Duration Price, ex VAT Per head at six
Full day workshop 09:30 until 16:15 £1,800 £300
Half day workshop Three and a half hours £1,200 £200
Additional attendee Either format £250 per person
Modular programme Several sessions across weeks Quoted on scope

Most of this market prices per seat, commonly between £350 and £1,495 a head. Six people at those rates is £2,100 to £9,000 for one day delivered to a room of strangers. Included in ours: the scoping call, a tailored agenda, the slides, a workbook, the work produced on the day, a month of email support and a check in at ninety days.

We invoice on purchase order and complete supplier onboarding where you need it. Travel outside Yorkshire is charged at cost and agreed before booking.

Who runs the training

Chris Norton delivering a social media training course to an in-house team

I am Chris Norton and I run most of these sessions myself. I founded Prohibition, the PR, social and content agency behind this site, I have worked in public relations for more than twenty years, and I have been running training since 2009. I co-authored Share This Too, the social media handbook published by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, and I have been a CIPR member since I was a student.

Where a session needs a specialist alongside me, one comes rather than being described in the third person. We run social, content and PR programmes for paying clients continuously, so the examples in the room are ours, including the ones that did not work.

Questions we get asked

Do you run public social media training courses?

No. Every course is private to one organisation. A public course has to be pitched at the average person in the room, so part of your team is bored and another part is lost.

How much does social media training cost in the UK?

Public courses commonly run £350 to £1,495 a head for a day. Private in-house training generally starts around £590 a head. Ours is £1,800 for a full day for up to six people, which is £300 a head.

How many people can attend?

The price covers up to six, with additional attendees at £250 each. Above about sixteen the practical exercises stop working and we would suggest two sessions.

Where do you deliver?

At your offices anywhere in the UK, at our Leeds studio, or live online. We deliver frequently across Yorkshire, the North West and London.

How far ahead do we need to book?

Three to four weeks is typical, mainly to allow for the scoping call and building the agenda. We have delivered inside a week when a team needed it.

Can you combine two subjects in one day?

Often, yes, and we will tell you when it will not work. Strategy and content combine well. Trying to add advertising to a beginners day does not.

Do we get a certificate?

No. We are not an accredited body and we will not pretend otherwise. If a recognised qualification is the requirement, the CIM and the DMA both offer accredited routes and we would point you there.

Can we pay by invoice or purchase order?

Yes. We invoice on purchase order, complete supplier onboarding forms, and hold the insurance and policy documents most public sector and enterprise frameworks require.

What happens after the training?

A month of email support as the plan meets reality, and a check in at ninety days to ask what actually happened, whether the answer is good or not.

What is your cancellation policy?

Rescheduling more than fourteen days out costs nothing. Inside fourteen days we ask for fifty per cent, and inside seventy two hours the full fee applies. We are reasonable about genuine emergencies.

Where does AI training fit in this list?

It now sits alongside the channels rather than inside them. Start at AI training for marketing and communications teams, then Microsoft Copilot training for Microsoft 365, AI for social media content training for posts and video, AI training for PR and communications teams for the press office, and the AI policy workshop when you need the rules written down.
