So you want to be a guest on a marketing podcast? Good choice. It’s one of the cheapest ways to borrow an audience someone else spent years building. I’m Chris Norton, and along with Will Ockenden, I host Embracing Marketing Mistakes, the UK’s number one marketing podcast on Apple.

Who has been on the show

We only book guests who genuinely fit, and over the years that has meant some properly good ones, including former Ogilvy CEO Marshall Manson, PR strategist Andrew Bloch and speaker Rich Mulholland. You would be in decent company, and if I am honest we have turned down bigger names than that when the story was not there.

“Such a fun conversation, kept forgetting we were actually recording.”

Why Come On The Show?

The pitch is simple. You get our audience for forty minutes. Our listeners are senior marketers, CMOs, marketing directors and experienced practitioners, mostly in the UK. We might be smaller on downloads, but the audience is high quality and senior.

Here is what you actually walk away with. A thirty to forty-five minute interview as both audio and full YouTube video. SEO show notes with a do-follow backlink to your site. A launch post on LinkedIn, a mention in the newsletter, ready-made clips you can reuse, and a short performance recap once it is out. You can repurpose the lot.

I should be honest about the timeline though. This is a long game. Some guests get a lead the week their episode airs. Most of the value turns up later, because episodes sit in the apps for years and people find you months after you have forgotten you even recorded it.

Who are we looking for?

You need to be a marketer. That sounds obvious, but we get pitched plenty of people who are not, so I will say it plainly. Any genuine marketer or marketing-adjacent professional is welcome to apply, in-house or agency, whether you run the budget or you are still working your way up. The bar is a real story and something useful to say to a senior audience.

The hook of our show is mistakes. We talk about the campaign that flopped, the launch that bombed, the rebrand that aged badly, the lesson you only learned the hard way. If you are happy to be honest about a cock-up and what it taught you, you will fit right in. If you only want to read out your greatest hits, we are probably not the show for you, and I say that kindly.

One more thing. We vet every guest and we will tell you if it is not a fit, whatever your topic. That is the part that keeps the show worth listening to, so please do not take a no personally.
