My latest house mix – May 2019

Yesterday I managed to get a bit of time to myself to put together my latest house music mix. I have packed this one with the latest tracks from the last couple of months that have really caught my eye. There is a distinct 1990s vibe to it for some reason which wasn’t intentional but it works and should be perfect for the start of the summer giving you something uplifting to listen too. Here is my Soundcloud channel if you like house music and this has more of my mixes on it from previous months.

My favourite house tunes of September 2017

Here is a little house mix I put together on my CDJs when I had a spare hour yesterday. These are my favourite tunes that are available at the moment, I have been collecting these for the last 30 days or so. You can download the mix if you want to from my Sound Cloud account.

The world’s first interactive DJ Album cover

I love this and had to share it as it combines my two big loves technology and DJing. Novalia worked with DJ Qbert to create the world’s first interactive DJ Decks in an album cover. The technology behind this is brilliant and really gives you some food for thought on what you can do with paper and cardboard these days. I might have to be using the technology in our next PR stunt. The cover comes complete with two decks, a cross fader and an array of SFX buttons printed directly onto paper using printed electronics and artwork. QBert’s Kickstarter ... Read more

Is the BBC’s “The Voice” just a PR platform for the judges?

Celebrity judge and pop music sensation Will.I.Am (although I am not a huge fan of his voice) raised the question of how BBC talent show, “The Voice” need to make the winners into winners. With its latest series airing last Saturday, new celebrity judge Rita Ora managed to bring in more than eight million viewers- the largest audience for the opening episode of any series so far, which is a good start but why are people tuning in? Is it for the acts or is it simply for the coaches themselves? It all started in 2012, “The Voice” is now ... Read more

Let’s Get Social – The Social Media Song

This video is worth watching don’t be put off by the five minutes on the clock – I would love to hear your thoughts. Mary McCoy from Continuum Marketing Services sings a humor-laced theme song for this year’s Social Media Marketing World. The song was apparently a warm-up for a keynote panel led by Jay Baer on the topic of “Have We Lost the Social in Social Media?” If you want to sing along in a kareoke style here are the lyrics: “Let’s Get Social” Lyrics: Verse 1 I’m showing you things you’ll like Trying to get engagement Here’s some photos ... Elton slams Roy Hodgson live on stage in Harrogate

Yesterday, I went to the first ever open air concert staged in the Great Yorkshire Show Grounds in Harrogate. My wife and I went to see Elton John, he was brilliant, performing more than two hours of his back catalogue including the majority of his biggest hits and some of his other more select album choices. I wasn’t sure about attending the event as I like his music but I didn’t know what to expect really – I am more of a dance music fan. As it was the first concert of its size in Harrogate, I was interested to ... Read more

My House Music DJ Set from Moko Lounge – Friday 16th March 2012

Warning this post is not about social media, online PR or internet marketing. It is just a quick link to the DJ set I performed and recorded live at a nightclub called Moko Lounge in Harrogate on Friday night. The music I play is everything from funky house through to the more funky electro. I do like a nice strong base line and a strong vocal. For this set I played for 3.5hrs and this is about an hour in so it is a bit more up tempo rather than a warm up set. I was asked to play more ... Read more

KLM’s social media strategy video long but pretty good

Here is an interesting video that has been created for/by the airline KLM on its social media strategy which I got from one of my local friends David Turner – so hat tip to him. I have to admit when I opened it and saw it was nine and a half minutes long, I thought there is no way am I watching this, but I actually stuck it out for once and it was fairly impressive. I have worked for a couple of airlines before and I like to follow what they get up to in the social world as ... Read more

In Berlin @ IFA2011– testing the latest DJ equipment

So I have been  out of the country for a few days in Berlin with one of my clients that manufactures headphones. We were attending IFA2011 which is the biggest consumer electronics show in the world, and as a massive tech/gadget geek I was in my element and felt like a kid at Christmas. I am also a huge dance music fan and used to professionally DJ in clubs when I worked in London and I did manage to become a semi-finalist at the British DJ championships in 2002. Recently I have got back into it and have started playing ... Read more

Imogen Heap launches an innovative crowd sourced album campaign

I love it when somebody uses social media a little differently, rather than following the sheep and simply setting up the usual channels. I like it even more when someone goes out there and tries to do something a bit creative and different. Step forward musician Imogen Heap, who is well known for a being a big social media advocate. Imogen has created a dedicated microsite for her latest project, which cleverly has a #hashtag as its working title. Here is how she explains it: #heapsong1 is the working title of the first song from my new album. The album ... Read more
