Black Sheep Brewery partners with Maisie Adam to challenge stereotypes of cask beer

I wanted to share this little video from a campaign we have just launched with our client Black Sheep Brewery. We partnered with comedian Maisie Adam to create an interesting “Mean Tweets” style video piece about cask beer. The idea was we wanted to dispel some of the common misconceptions that surround cask beer, and tackle the cask trolls, head-on and we got some amusing results. I mean what did we expect with the social web. Maisie has done numerous comedy shows like Mock the Week, Have I Got News for You, and 8 Out of 10 Cats.  Despite being the ... Read more

Burger King sponsors Stevenage – Video

I love this clever campaign from Burger King after they decided to sponsor Stevenage FC in the real world because the team would appear in the computer game Fifa alongside the big teams. So they then created an online challenge to get people to get their own Stevenage team to be brilliant and buy the best players – in other words getting visibility on their brand. What a great idea for a relatively low budget. The whole campaign is wrapped up in a clever social media video. The bumf says: Brands pay millions to get soccer’s biggest players to endorse ... The Punishing Signal – PR Stunt of the week

Those of you that read my blog will know I love a clever PR stunt and this one has caught my eye this week. This great PR stunt was staged by Mumbai Police and FCB Interface who collaborated to teach Mumbai’s reckless car horn honkers a lesson. In this video you can watch how a passive street signal is turned into a Punishing Signal. The aim was to teach the Mumbaikars – how to #HonkResponsibly. I love the fact this is done both amusingly and to get a great result. In other words to reduce noise pollution. Great work team.

PR Stunt of the Month – Shutterstock Fyre Festival Video

OK, I will admit it I am a little late to the party on this one but my colleague found this video and shared it with my team and it actually made me laugh, so I thought it was worth sharing on the blog. If you haven’t watched the rather shocking documentary on Netflix about Fyre Festival, where the hell have you been? The documentary gave me both anxiety and a strange sense of relief that we could never do anything as bad as that. I honestly couldn’t believe anyone would dare to act as reckless as the founder of ... Read more

PR Stunt of the Week: Samsung “The Safety Truck”

You know I love a clever idea or quirky campaign. Well this week I was sent this little beauty and I love the simplicity of it. This initiative was created by Leo Burnett from Buenos Aires for Samsung’s Argentinian corporate office to promote road safety, what better way to demonstrate Samsung’s high definition TV screens and road safety than simply combining the two to create a truck that you can see right through? Absolute genius and it makes for a great video – I think they could have come up with a snappier name for the truck though.

Video of the week: The Empty Car Convoy

Here’s another nice stunt video from the automotive industry that gets a product benefit across. A self-driving car is something we can all see in the future (not too far away if Google have anything to do with it) but Hyundai already have it! Instead of talking the talk they went straight in and walked the walk by making this clip. Its slogan ‘smart technology to care for you, because we care for you’ might sound a tad cheesy but they couldn’t have chosen a better way to prove it. This ludicrous video shows drivers jumping off moving cars and ... Read more

Tweet 4 Pies– a tweet shop for one of my clients

What can be better than a free pie in exchange for a tweet? So this week the Prohibition team and I have been out and about working our buts off. I was over at CIH conference in Manchester on Wednesday supporting our client Keepmoat on their stand. To help a brand achieve standout at the event can be a tough call at these kind of large scale events. So we sat down together and decided to create the show’s first-ever “tweet-shop”, where delegates could pay for pies, (we went with a Brazilian football theme obviously) football merchandise including a pretty ... Base jumper sets his pants on fire in PR stunt – Video

An Norwegian underwear producer called Devold put its protective clothing to the test in a PR stunt and videoed the whole thing and then sent it to me. The workwear brand set fire to a base jumper and sent him over a cliff in something which did seem pretty scary and that’s why I like it. The thing that concerns me the most is my pilot-chute (that opens the parachute). If the pilot-chute gets burned it might not work”, says stuntman Tom Erik Heiman before he is about to jump off a 1200-meter high cliff indulged in flames. Apparently Devold manufacturers protective underwear ... Read more

Banksy sells his artwork for just 40 pounds in PR stunt

So Banksy one of my personal heroes has done it again with a PR stunt to beat all others. A few days ago he arranged to have an old guy sell his really very expensive art on a random broken looking market stall in New York. He was selling them at just $60 each and as hundreds of people walked past they all clearly thought they were copies rather than £20,000 of true genius. Only three people bought one with one rather lucky customer saying: “I just need something for my walls” as he buys two of them. How lucky ... Read more

Bodyform Facebook crisis response is true genius

Another week and another brilliant PR stunt – this time it was the Bodyform Facebook page that earlier received a post from a guy called Richard complaining about periods in the following manner: Hi , as a man I must ask why you have lied to us for all these years . As a child I watched your advertisements with interest as to how at this wonderful time of the month that the female gets to enjoy so many things ,I felt a little jealous. I mean bike riding , rollercoasters, dancing, parachuting, why couldn’t I get to enjoy this ... Read more
