Video: The BBC interviews the wrong man

We have all been behind the camera and been asked a question we weren’t expecting. So I love this video as live on BBC News 24, consumer affairs correspondent Karen Bowerman interviews a man who she believes to be the online music expert Guy Kewney. Apparently, it was originally reported that he was a taxi driver who has no idea what’s going on and knows absolutely nothing about what he’s being interviewed on, but it has since emerged that he was Guy Goma, a graduate from the Congo who was there for a job interview instead. His expression once he realises he’s being ... Is Facebook about to ruin our newsfeeds?

I think it’s fair to say that Facebook has witnessed exponential growth since launching all those years ago back in 2004. The current user base stands at 1.15 billion from all areas of the globe and of all age ranges from 13 upwards. The truth is the world is now heavily under the influence of the services that it provides but recently the tide has started to change with recent figures showing for the first time Facebook’s numbers have started to recede.  In April 2013 social bakers reported that users in the US had dropped by six million for the ... Online Crisis Management: Share This Too is now available on Amazon

I am delighted to announce that, Share This Too, the book I wrote a chapter for a while back is now available to buy. ‘Share This Too’ is a practical guide to social media, supported by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR). Based purely on pre-sales figures, the book has already topped the Amazon’s hot new releases in Sales and Marketing, and is also in the top 20 PR books and we are all very happy with that. I would like to personally thank the brilliant Wadds for inviting me to write something for this book it was a pleasure ... Read more

Viral of the week: LG crashing meteor stunt

I love this video a nice execution of how to show off your product. It is a prank job interview where LG replace the window behind the interviewers head and they then play a clip of a crashing meteor whilst conducting the interview. I think most people would have fallen for this but I am not sure the second guy being interviewed liked it very much. Well done LG a great little stunt that has got people talking. This particular clip only has 35,000 views at present but I am sure it will keep on going up as more people ... Read more

Essay-writing-services.net hacked my site for an SEO black hat link

Dear Essay-Writing-Services.net, So yesterday I noticed some really nasty and well hidden copy with a number of embedded links at the bottom of the home page of my personal blog. If you look at the very bottom it may still be there but in case you have removed it recently – it stated the following: Helpful essay writing reviews with a discount. We ll make your paper fast – essay-writing.org.uk . Cool essay writing debate made by experienced uk teachers – essayxwriting.com. Needless to say this copy was nothing to do with me, and the very fact it is hidden right at the bottom ... Read more

Official PR fees in Technology revealed as £87,000 per head

Last week, PR Week revealed its Top 40 Tech PR Agencies in the UK based on revenue. It supplied some interesting statistics and having a closer look at them I felt I could take a different slant on it as I was interested in something else other than revenue. PR Week said: The majority of tech agencies are adjusting to this changing landscape and consequently are experiencing rising fee incomes. The total tech fee income of PRWeek’s latest Top 40 Tech Consultancies sample is up almost 30 per cent on last year So it appears its good news for us ... Read more

Online Crisis Management Seminar at Share This Live

Just over a couple of weeks ago I visited London to speak at the CIPR’s annual social media conference on Online Crisis Management. I was invited to chair a session following the chapter I wrote for Share This Too which is coming out soon – to get a copy from Amazon just order here. The session was really interesting I had invited two people from either side of the fence to discuss online crisis management. I wanted to help provide a range of views on the subject because despite what you may think not a lot has been written on ... Read more

British Airways Video Stunt: Man Vs Plane

Here is a nice little video stunt from British Airways. South African Rugby player Bryan Habana a while ago raced against a cheetah. Now in a stunt for British Airways he takes on the new A380. It kind of reminds me of when Brian the Robot from Confused.com took on an Olympic sprinter back in June. This clip features a few famous faces and is a well executed video. It only has around 600 views at the time of asking but this is probably going to jump up over the coming hours.

Regional newspapers can still win the content war

Earlier this week, I attended the PR and Disruption conference at the London College of Communication as I was personally invited by a good friend of mine Simon Collister. There were a number of interesting presentations including one from Nic Newman, digital strategist and research associate, at Reuters Journalism Institute who discussed the growth of multiple channel news sources and he highlighted the new challenges that the modern news content providers faced. Nic offered a fascinating insight into how the internal landscapes of newsrooms had changed recently and how the BBC amongst many has adapted including how its internal news team actually ...
