PR Stunt of the Week: Samsung “The Safety Truck”

You know I love a clever idea or quirky campaign. Well this week I was sent this little beauty and I love the simplicity of it. This initiative was created by Leo Burnett from Buenos Aires for Samsung’s Argentinian corporate office to promote road safety, what better way to demonstrate Samsung’s high definition TV screens and road safety than simply combining the two to create a truck that you can see right through? Absolute genius and it makes for a great video – I think they could have come up with a snappier name for the truck though.

Prohibition Gets Shortlisted in the Top 50 PR Agencies

Well I think it’s fair to say that I have had a busy few months, and in fact, the last twelve seem to have been the busiest in my entire career. My PR Agency Prohibition has thankfully been winning new clients hand over fist and this week our work was recognised externally, on a regional level, after we were included in the North’s Top 50 PR Agencies.  The list which is released every year, albeit for a bit of link bait, ranks each PR agency according to its financial information taken from Companies House and also from supplementary information from ... PR Stunt of the Week – The Super Strong Meter Maid

I came across this amusing stunt the other day a great prank style stunt from viral marketing agency Thinkmodo for a new car selling app called Carlister. It asks “What if you had the strength to lift a car with your bare hands?” They give this power to Jenni and dressed her up as a New York City meter maid. Hidden cameras captured the reactions of people witnessing her teaching a rude cab driver a lesson. I love a hidden camera stunt and it has been executed beautifully. Enjoy.

PR Interviews: Crosby Noricks 20:20 Vision

Over the next few months I will be interviewing practitioners from the world of public relations and digital marketing from across the globe, people I respect and look up to. I decided to call this series 20:20 Vision. The concept of this is that I ask each practitioner 20 questions about themselves and they give us a glimpse into their working lives and what makes them tick. Most of the people I speak with will have an interest in digital, online or modern public relations strategy. My first interview was with Arik C. Hanson from Minnesota but this week it ... Read more

Is SEO hurting your PR career?

I have heard some interesting thoughts this week from various people in the industry, I have also met with a number of SEO specialists who have asked us at Prohibition if we can help with the outreach phase of their SEO campaigns. I value SEO and its importance at keeping our clients at the top of search engines and I believe technical SEO will always remain as a requirement for clients. However, I am hearing from people in the SEO industry that the outreach phase is becoming increasingly challenging for SEOs and that is why they are recruiting more and more ... Read more

Are we seeing the slow painful death of Google Alerts?

Over the last couple of months I have been really busy giving my usual lectures to my lovely PR and Journalism students at Leeds Beckett University and one of the presentations I have crafted is on the Future of Social Media listening which covers the issues and different elements modern PR practitioners need to consider when listening and identifying important issues online. I won’t bore you with the full details but I cover a wide variety of elements in the seminar including the beautiful graphical Enterprise solutions right down to the free monitoring tools and let’s face it no free ... Report: Instagram is officially the platform of choice for brand engagement

I read some interest thoughts the other day, extensive research carried out by business intelligence tool L2 revealed that an increasing amount of brands are migrating from Facebook and focusing their attention on the use of Instagram. This surge in migrant users is not limited to brands; Instagram has grown from 100-300 million active users in only the last two years and I myself have noticed it really taking off for some of the clients we work with.  You can follow me on Instagram here. These new users of the photo-sharing app are apparently young, impressionable, and tech savvy. Studies ... Read more

A campaign to celebrate the fine work of mums everywhere

I know I have been rather quiet recently and the last two months have been rather busy at Prohibition HQ if I am honest. We have had a stellar record year won several new accounts, hired a number of talented  new recruits and taken on some exciting a projects. One of those included was for the high street brand Interflora and we named it Verses for my Valentine, in this campaign we asked people when was the last time they received a love letter – it turned out that almost half of people never have. We wanted to encourage people to ... Read more

TENA Men Control Video challenges stigma of Incontinence in new campaign

TENA Men outreached its latest campaign to me today and I had to share it as it made me smile. The new amusing video has been created to challenge the stigma of incontinence using the super suave Stirling Gravitas, you can follow him @S_Gravitas. The Twitter feed needs polishing a bit, as it only has three tweets and it does not have a background and the image looks stretched but they can sort that out I am sure. If I were them I would have gone to town on the social media and given him as much personality as he has in the ... Read more
