Last month I was quite shocked to stumble upon an article about a couple who were actually fined for leaving a negative review on TripAdvisor. Tony and Jan Jenkinson, had been on their way to Oxford to visit family, when they stopped off at a Blackpool hotel to split up their journey. The couple then felt they received a poor quality of service at the hotel and in turn wrote a negative review on Tripadvisor. So everything sounds pretty standard so far, right? Wrong. Last weekend I was kindly invited to Ox Pasture Hall to sample the hotel and see what I thought about it and the surrounding area. I was reading an article the other day that claimed a positive review on Trip Advisor was now worth £10,000 and hotel owners are now being blackmailed for discounts and threatened with negative reviews if they don’t give them. The article stated: Dozens of customers are using the website’s increasing power to try and get free upgrades or refunds despite nothing wrong with their accommodation. I have just arrived back at Wolfstar HQ this morning and whilst running through my emails I felt I better write something about my relaxing week off. Last week, I decided to have some time off and take my wife and little boy away for the week. So we booked a trip to Hackness Grange in the Yorkshire Dales as it looked quite peaceful.
