In The Sunday Times this weekend, I read an interesting article that genuinely shocked me it was entitled “Big Tech Tries to Blank the Press”. The article covered the fact that big tech companies in Silicon Valley are annoyed at how the media is treating them, and now they are actively starting to bypass journalists, and even PR teams altogether, in a bid to communicate directly with consumers, stakeholders and their wider audiences. The Stephen Hester media witch hunt must stop now

I was listening to the Today programme this morning with James Naughtie presenting and he was interviewing the chief executive of RBS Stephen Hester. No sooner did we get into the interview and Mr Hester was asked if his salary wasn’t enough. This really irritated me – I am sick of this media witch hunt against this guy that is trying to do his job. Is the media killing itself?

With the recent and growing decline of traditional newspapers there are several theories being touted around that could be attributed to the sudden drop in circulation and audience figures. It’s true that the media has become accustom to reporting headline grabbing stories (that’s its job after all) and it’s rare you can open a paper without any new scary statistics being reported on the credit crunch – or should I say impending depression.
