Social media campaigns – convincing the technophobes…

It appears that the business community is starting to understand that social media has to be part of an effective public relations programme in 2008. Consumers across the globe are now actively using the popular social networking sites such as Myspace, Bebo, Facebook, Youtube to contact their friends and share content in the form of interesting music and amusing videos. However,  these same people, often become confused as to how social media can then be implemented in a professional/business campaign. I recently held a meeting with a client who was very interested in what Wolfstar do, and they were equally ... Read more

The search is on for the magic leg

Here is a story that I found on AP’s newswire today, which I found rather concerning but equally interesting. I have heard of magical feet before but never a magical leg. Two men attacked an 80-year-old, self-proclaimed holy man in southern India and chopped off his right leg, apparently believing it had magical powers, police said Thursday. Yanadi Kondaiah, who claimed that those who touched his leg would be cured of illness or have wishes granted, was hospitalised in serious condition after the attack Tuesday, said R. Ravindranath Reddy, a senior police officer. “We are looking for the miscreants as ... Read more

Radio 1 may have got it wrong

About three months ago it was announced on Radio One that they were   changing their schedules, which meant the listeners no longer had to listen to JK & Joel – I will let you decide whether that is a good or bad thing? However, I think they did get something wrong and that was to move Pete Tong’s Essential Selection slot from 6pm to 7pm. It now means the listeners are subjected to Scott Mills from 6pm on a Friday. I really like Scott’s shows as I think he can be very funny and makes good imaginative radio normally – ... Read more

Rafa’s position should be safe

Over the last few months I have seen article upon article filling the back pages of the dailies stating that Rafael Benitez‘s position at Liverpool is about to come to an end. Firstly, I think this is a load of rubbish. OK, so he did have a public spat with the clubs owners Hicks and Gillet but that’s because he was keen to ensure the transfer targets he was after could be pursued and secured for January. This is because he wants to do well for the club. I think the new owners have conducted themselves well and they are ... Read more

Taxi for Schumacher and Mr Ed

There was an amusing story kicking about on the news wires yesterday.  Love him or loathe him, former F1 world champion Michael Shumacher is certainly a well known face – albeit quite a wide one too. Anyway, he decided to catch a cab in Bavaria after picking up a new dog – like you do – and asked the driver if he could drive as he was late for a flight back home. The cab driver, who couldn’t believe his luck, then had to hold on for dear life as Shumacher flung him all around the cab on the way ... Read more

Free Skype phone……

If you are already part of the Wolfstar community, you will know that my colleagues have been road testing the new Skype phones, which seem to have been received quite well. I have to say, they do look the business and as we use Skype regularly at Wolfstar, they have been a real help. Anyway, we have been contacted by Skype and told about a new  competition where you can get your mucky paws on a free one yourself – all through the world of social media. The guys over at 3mobilebuzz are running a competition with the winner of ... Read more

New England Manager Announced

Here is the news you have been waiting for. I can exclusively reveal that the new England manager has been finally named as Zippy from Rainbow. After Jose Mourinho, decided to remove himself from the running yesterday, the FA turned to the next best possible man. Zippy comes with a strong track record, having worked with a bunch of nitwits before (obviously apart from George). Zippy is a master tactician and knows how to get the most from people who just aren’t motivated anymore – ask Rod, Jane and Freddy! I did try to get him on the phone for ... Read more

MySpace to launch new music channel to promote upcoming bands

MySpace continues down its own road of total music dominance, by launching an online music video channel that is to combine live gig footage with interviews and profiles to help promote new and up and coming bands. The channel has bizarrely been called Earwig TV – make your own decisions here.  Anyway, it is apparently going to aggregate content from across the whole of the site to help bands and artists reach out to new fans and hopefully in-turn attract some much needed attention from record labels. This is a great idea – I am all for promoting proper British ... Read more

The space cowboy returns and joins in the social media revolution

At Wolfstar we are always looking out for interesting stories which get us all talking, and we often like to cherry pick the best and closely examine them to see what is good and what is bad. Yesterday, we saw a great story about the disco, funk and pop band Jamiroquai, who have launched a new social media website. Seb and I both love the disco funksters, so we found this very intriguing and had to check the site out ourselves. The band, who have always been known for being forward thinking in their music and marketing, already have a ... Read more

Broadband customer service on a downward spiral

In the news today, it seems a survey has found that customer service levels from broadband suppliers are getting worse with customers spending an average 17minutes on the phone. I have to say I didn’t need a new story or survey to tell me that. I recently left BT, after being tied into an expensive 18-month contract. My service went down on several occasions and when it did, I spent more than 25 minutes listening to a recorded message telling me that my call was important to them but I would have to wait. Once I actually got through to ... Read more
