Sir Alex is the real PR master

Sir Alex piped up this morning saying he isn’t worried about Chelsea as most of the team are over 30 – a typical Fergie mind game tactic. Did it work? I sincerely doubt it but I bet it made him feel a whole lot better at the press conference. He is a master of PR, spin and pressure. I doubt the Man Utd communications director has to tell him what to say and how to say it and I doubt he would listen either. Fergie uses the same tactics every year – wind them all up and apply the pressure ... Read more

Why I have backed Portugal at the Euros this summer!

Apologies to all of you who aren’t football fans but as I love football I thought I should do a quick post on what I think of the latest European championships. I have watched all the games so far and I am quite happy as I placed a £5 bet on Portugal to win the whole tournament last week (before it started). I know they haven’t got a world class striker but I just think this year could be their year. They are superb technically and they hold the ball really well and most importantly they have some very exciting ... Read more

Free Premiership football matches streamed live on the internet

I don’t blog that regularly on football but I thought this was worth a quick post. I am a keen Liverpool fan but I love all football and enjoy watching most teams – no matter what level. Usually I have to take the regular journey out to the local pub to watch the best games with friends. However, I think I might now have found the answer to watching my favourite sport whenever it’s on. Games from the Premiership, La Liga and the Italian league and even formula 1 and boxing – it’s all available by following some simple steps. ... Read more

Extreme street football video – supplied by a friend

I have just received the attached video by email, which Seb and I thought was very cool. A big thanks goes to Mr Justin McKeown for supplying it and brightening up my day. I always like to see football being played well – probably because I play like Bambi on ice. None of us can actually decide if it’s CGI or not – I am guessing it is. Check it out, as it’s very well put together, so you can appreciate the skill even if you aren’t a big football fan. Enjoy.

Rafa’s position should be safe

Over the last few months I have seen article upon article filling the back pages of the dailies stating that Rafael Benitez‘s position at Liverpool is about to come to an end. Firstly, I think this is a load of rubbish. OK, so he did have a public spat with the clubs owners Hicks and Gillet but that’s because he was keen to ensure the transfer targets he was after could be pursued and secured for January. This is because he wants to do well for the club. I think the new owners have conducted themselves well and they are ... Read more

New England Manager Announced

Here is the news you have been waiting for. I can exclusively reveal that the new England manager has been finally named as Zippy from Rainbow. After Jose Mourinho, decided to remove himself from the running yesterday, the FA turned to the next best possible man. Zippy comes with a strong track record, having worked with a bunch of nitwits before (obviously apart from George). Zippy is a master tactician and knows how to get the most from people who just aren’t motivated anymore – ask Rod, Jane and Freddy! I did try to get him on the phone for ... Read more

Mourinho for England

In my recent blog about England exiting Euro 2008 I said I didn’t mind who the  next manager was, and that they should appoint the right person for the job. Well, the right person has now made himself available and I think it’s time the FA got off their backsides and acted because he won’t be available for long if Barcelona or Milan have anything to do with it. Jose Mourinho for England is my shout. He is in the top three coaches in the world, speaks English, is respected by all of the players and even better, he is ... Read more

Chris Norton enters the blogosphere and England exit Euro 2008

Hi and welcome to my first ever personal blog post, I have decided to start writing this to release my demons and tell the world how I feel about certain things and subjects. I work in the crazy world of public relations and I have always been the man behind the client, company, microphone and camera but I now I suppose it’s time to pull myself out of the darkness, smile and enter the blogosphere officially. I have to admit, it feels kind of strange putting your thoughts onto a screen knowing that anyone, anywhere can read them but I ... Read more
