Stop thinking about the spiders..

Another rant I am afraid. I am sick of coming across extremely poor blogs that are being used as dumping grounds by SEO people to leave links and point them towards their client’s main websites. I really don’t see the longevity in this process – it’s wrong and Google and Bing will get wise to it and stop you in the end anyway. Yes blogging can be used to help SEO but please god don’t write terrible, dull content just because it includes your client’s brand name all of the time. Surely, you want these new links to mean something and good quality content is going to have much more longevity than a dull written post. For instance, if you are a household brand don’t write “XXXXXX toaster of the week” when you could write an interesting article on the changing face of British breakfast time. Just have a sit down and think about what you are writing and consider if you would actually think about subscribing to a blog like you are writing. Subscriber numbers help SEO too you know. Let’s clean the internet up and get rid of this pointless rubbish that is clogging up our servers.

I mean even if the infamous spiders did actually find your blog post, a real user is just going to land on your dull post and think – what the hell is this rubbish? And then go somewhere else anyway therefore negating the entire process you have spent ages on. I know that keywords and your rankings matter to you and your client but let’s write content that is interesting and has your keywords in it too. Surely that is the best of both worlds. Even if it does work today – it isn’t going to work in a few months take it from me.

I feel better after that.
