This PR stunt by Amazon caught my eye. The story is Amazon is launching a set of drones in several year’s time and currently testing them. You can watch the very clever video below. This stunt has been covered everywhere, so much kudos to the PR team responsible but more importantly I actually love the video which makes it almost seem like a reality. I almost thought it was April 1st when I heard this story on the news last night.

And then today Waterstones has combated this to get some much needed headlines with the announcement of a new fleet of owls that will be delivering your book orders.  Yes you did read that right, it states in the description of its tongue in cheek video:

We’re excited to announce the Ornithological Waterstones Landing Service, a brand new way to receive your favourite books.

O.W.L.S. consists of a fleet of specially trained owls that, either working individually or as an adorable team, will be able to deliver your package within thirty minutes of you placing your order.

Watch our Press Manager Jon Owls introduce the O.W.L.S. project.

Putting O.W.L.S. into commercial use will take a number of years as it takes ages to train owls to do anything and we only just thought of it this morning.

I am wondering when MacDonalds is going to start telling us that Ronald is doing deliveries especially for Christmas.
